On September 20th, 2021, the ART OF PACKAGING 2021 final gala, one of the largest packaging industry events in Poland, took place. ART OF PACKAGING is a national competition for the best packaging of the year, promoting innovation, sustainability and packaging designers’ creativity. UPM Raflatac Polska was once again the Silver Partner of the event, actively supporting responsible label choices, both among competing professionals and debutants. The contest was organized by EUROPEAN MEDIA GROUP, the publisher of the industry monthly PACKAGING POLSKA.
Art of Packaging is an event in which the largest printing houses, brand owners and packaging designers in Poland participate, presenting their crown jewels – the most interesting and innovative packaging works. Most of the designs nominated for competition later go into manufacturing and can be found as the packaging of products across a wide variety of industries. “Art of Packaging contest not only promotes innovation and new trends in packaging but has also become an excellent place for the entire business world of the packaging industry annual meeting.” – says Przemysław Różycki, Sales Manager at UPM Raflatac Polska. “This competition is also a great opportunity for young designers, who want to make a mark in the packaging industry,” adds Przemysław.

Congratulations to the winners, as well as to all of the nominees for this year's Art Of Packaging Grand Prize. Special thanks to the EUROPEAN MEDIA GROUP for excellent cooperation regarding the competition event. Below we are presenting details of the winning designs.
Labels for natural fruit juices "When I grow up, I will become…"
The label was created with a view to children aged 5-12. The comic book style turns characters performing common professions into superheroes fighting for a better future. The professions are represented by male and female version of the main character. The aim of the comic book is to enchant the recipient and to attract his attention, making him aware of the important role of certain professions. And the sticker under the label aims to encourage the user to separate the paper label from the glass bottle, enabling the recycling of the entire packaging.
Labels for men's colognes “Lucjan's Barbershop”
The labels’ designs allude to barbering – the American tradition of male hairdressing. Barbershop has always been a proper place for all men seeking a classic beauty of hair styling at the highest level of quality and service. Lucjan's Barbershop is one of the best barber shops in Poland offering, in addition to hair cutting and styling, many series of exclusive men's cosmetics manufactured under its own brand. Material used: Velmart White WSA-FSC / RP30 / WG85 by UPM Raflatac. Refinement: UV selective varnish, gloss.
Labels for the series of flavoured gins Mintis Gin
The elegant appearance and balanced taste take the gourmand to a refreshing and peaceful land. Gin, manufactured in a family distillery in the Piedmont region, is made without the use of artificial colours, flavour enhancers or sugar. A specially designed bottle, together with the label, evokes positive associations. The series of super premium labels die cut shape matches the challenging shape of dedicated bottles in various colours, topped with a lush green cork. Labels were printed on Silver Orion Raflatac material, in CMYK inkjet UV technology. Hot stamping foil in different colours was used for refinement, matching the design of the packaging and the taste of alcohol.
